GST and QST
Produce a period's tax return, record the payments (even in instalments) and reconcile with Revenu Québec.
TeeBooks tracks the GST and QST collected and paid on every transaction, then assembles the period's tax return: taxes collected, credits (ITCs and ITRs) and the net amount to remit or receive.
Produce a return
- 1Open Tax return and pick the period (producing the same period twice is blocked).
- 2Check the amounts assembled from the books; the Tax review page flags transactions with doubtful treatment.
- 3Produce the return: the net amount is posted and ready to remit.
- 4Then record the payment, in one or several instalments, each one matchable to its bank line.
Interest and reconciling with Revenu Québec
If Revenu Québec adds interest or your payments differ from the returns, the reconciliation section lines your books up against the Revenu Québec statement, with entry of interest and the actual payment date. The difference gets explained line by line.
The tax codes on accounts (Tax codes page) drive each transaction's treatment: a miscoded account skews the return. The Tax review page exists to catch those cases before filing.
